Cardi B is making big plans for the new year after promising to drop all the “dead weight” in her life.
The rapper publicly made the vow after unfollowing her husband, Offset, on Instagram.
Turbulent Relations Between Cardi B and Offset
The on-again, off-again relationship between the American rappers has been turbulent in recent years after tying the knot in 2017.
They announced a breakup in 2018, and after working through things, Cardi B filed for divorce in 2020. She eventually called it off, but now it appears the couple have parted ways for good.
Cardi Vows to Make a Change
The rapper went live on Instagram to explain to her fans that they should not wait until 2024 to change their lives, and that’s exactly what she’s doing.
During the recent video, Cardi B explained that she would be ridding her life of all the “dead weight” that’s been dragging her down.
The Focus for the New Year
Cardi B explained to her fans that her plans for the new year were already in motion.
“Career-wise and financially and personal life, I know where I wanna be at next year. You know what I’m saying?” she said.
Letting Go of Dead Weight
The 31-year-old Grammy winner explained what she means by ‘dead weight’ during her video.
She said, “I will say mentality, procrastination, laziness, and people because many people are dead weight, too.”
Trying Too Hard to Protect Feelings
Cardi B admits that, as a Libra, she finds herself focusing on the feelings of others as opposed to herself.
“I feel as a Libra, when it comes to people, we always want to protect their feelings. We always want to protect their image. We just want to protect people. Like how would they feel or how would life [be without me] for them? F*** that,” she said.
A Year All About Me
Cardi B, who has an enormous following of nearly 280 million social media followers, finished the video by saying, “Next year is gonna be all about me.”
Just over a week ago, the rapper unfollowed her husband. However, she still follows at least five fan accounts dedicated to him.
More Than a Few Martial Problems
The rapper clearly alluded to the fact that there were more than a few marital problems in her relationship.
Cardi posted, “You know when you just outgrow relationships.” She followed it up with, “I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST.”
Offset Hits Back at Cardi
It was later revealed that Offset, born Kiari Cephus, also unfollowed his wife on Instagram.
The rapper would also hit back at Cardi on Instagram by posting a caption on his story that read, “I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings… I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST.”
I Built This Empire
Offset appears to have hinted he was the brains behind all of their achievements after posting a clip from the 1983 classic, “Scarface,” to his Instagram.
In the scene, Al Pacino’s character screams from a hot tub, “Hey f*** you, man! Who put this thing together? Me, that’s who. Who do I trust? Me.”
Things Were Quick to Fall Apart
Fans of the couple were shocked to find out that Cardi and Offset had parted ways for good.
As the last time the rappers were seen in public at the release party for Offset’s second studio album, they seemed very much in love. Yet, things have taken a turn for the worse.
Wedding Anniversary Just Months Ago
Just a few months ago, the hip-hop couple celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary. Offset even filled their foyer with hundreds of roses.
“Thank you so much, baby! Thank you for the flowers, the empowerment, the protection, and for being a great father to our children,” Cardi said at the time.
