Last month, US retail giant Target announced its “biggest sale of the season”. The sales week begins today and is set to last until July 13th.
The sales week, known as Circle Week, sees massive discounts on Summer essentials and back-to-school items, with additional deals available for members of the free Target Circle program.
Flexibility and Time-Savings
Target’s executive vice president and chief guest experience officer, Cara Sylvester, said, “Target Circle is the best way for guests to save time and money every time they shop.”
Sylvester added, “We believe saving should be simple and shopping should be fun, and our new Target Circle delivers just that with flexible options and a range of benefits to meet every shopper’s need.”
Second Circle Week of The Year
In April, Target held its first-ever Circle Week. July’s Circle Week comes just days before Amazon’s Prime Day on July 16-17th, which promises similarly expansive deals.
Walmart has also announced a “Walmart Deals” promotion that will run from July 8th to 11th, and will see further deals on electronics and back-to-school items.
What is Amazon Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day will take place across Tuesday, July 16th and Wednesday, July 17th. Deals will span kitchen items, AirPods and ice makers.
Prime Day is exclusive to Amazon. A standard Prime Membership costs $14.99 a month, while a yearly subscription is $139.
What Items Are on Sale
Walmart has promised 50% off Lego, Monster Jam, and LOL Surprise! Toys, as well as 40% off select kitchen and floorcare products.
Additionally, 30% will be taken off bedding, tees, backpacks, and school uniforms, while 20% discounts are promised for CeraVe, Le Roche Posay, and Neutrogena products.
Accessing Sales
Customers will be able to use the Target App to access additional deals during Circle Week, while a Target 360 subscription will allow unlimited same-day delivery with Shipt.
Meanwhile, the retailer is offering a Target Circle 360 subscription at a discounted rate of $49 for the first year (compared to the usual rate of $99).
Additional Deals on Offer
During Circle Week, Target will run a Deal of the Day series, which will be exclusively available for Target Circle Members.
Customers with a Target Circle Card will also be able to save an extra 5% off already-discounted products.
Target’s History of Low Prices
Target is known for offering customers low prices, and the retailer is set to reduce prices on 3,500 items across the Summer.
In May, Target lowered prices on 1,500 popular items – including food, drinks and beauty products.
Who Are Target?
Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Target Corporation is one of America’s biggest retailers, with nearly 2,000 stores located across the US.
The retailer’s website reads, “Since 1946, Target has given 5% of its profit to communities, which today equals millions of dollars a week.”
Mixed Economic Outlook
In 2023, Target’s sales dropped by 1.7%, while their rate of growth in foot traffic steadily declined across the year.
However, the corporation – whose capital expenditure reached $4.8 billion in 2023 – saw a significant increase in profits in the same year.
